What exactly does a doula do?
A doula provides physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and after birth — they do not replace the medical team; they complement it.
Does insurance cover a doula?
It depends on the plan. Some California insurance plans and HSA/FSA accounts may cover part of the cost. We can help you check your coverage.
What is the difference between a doula and a midwife?
A midwife is a medical professional who provides clinical care during pregnancy and birth. A doula provides continuous comfort, emotional, and informational support without performing medical functions.
When should I hire a doula?
Ideally between weeks 20–30 of pregnancy, although we also support families who decide to hire a doula later.
Do you attend home births?
